OUR HISTORY

In 1987, Bethel Deaf Tabernacle was established in Hamilton, Ontario. Pastor John and Suzan Graham founded this ministry with four Deaf people. It grew to more than 35 in less than a year. At that time it was theonly Deaf congregation in the area. Many members traveled from as far away as Toronto, Kitchener, Branford, Milton and Mississauga to worship every Sunday. In November 19, 1989 we had a dedication service, where over 106 Deaf attended. Some visitors, who attended other small churches, came from as far away as Barrie and Windsor. We met in a portable building on the property of Bethel Tabernacle (hearing church).

In December 1993, the congregation decided to move to Milton where there is a Deaf school, Deaf group homes, and a large Deaf community nearby. The Deaf congregation used the prayer chapel of New Life Pentecostal Church (hearing) for while. When the Bethel Deaf Tabernacle portable was sold to the hearing church in Hamilton, we bought another used portable building. It was moved to the property of New Life Pentecostal Church. At this time we decided to change our name to New Life Deaf Church. It was established in Milton in January 1994. We have since renovated the church building with a new carpet, kitchen, lights and it is now decorated nicely. All the work was done by Deaf volunteers. It is a beautiful small church for His Glory, "because the glory of the Lord had filled the Lord¹s house". 1 Chronicles 7:2
